Tayon Help

Renew or transfer a domain you bought on Tayon

Turn automatic renewal on or off, pay a renewal yourself, and get the transfer code to move a domain to another provider.

You’ll need: A domain registered through Tayon. Connected domains are renewed where you bought them.

A domain is registered for a year at a time (or the minimum term for its ending). This article shows how to keep it, and how to take it elsewhere if you want to. The domain is yours either way.

Domains

On the domain list, a domain you bought shows Renews automatically on … or Expires on …. Choose Settings on its row to open its options:

  • Expires — the date, and how many days are left.
  • Renew automatically — the switch described below.
  • Transfer to another provider — the transfer code.

Settings only appears for domains registered through Tayon. A domain you connected is renewed at the company you bought it from.

#Renew automatically

With Renew automatically on, Tayon charges your saved card before the domain expires and renews it for you. You get an email when it is renewed.

Turn the switch off and Tayon reminds you before the domain expires instead; you renew it yourself.

Each renewal is charged at the current renewal price for the domain’s ending, in your account’s currency.

#Renew now

Sometimes a renewal needs you. Settings then shows Your domain expires on … The renewal needs your payment, with a Renew now button and the price. This happens when:

  • automatic renewal is off;
  • you paid for the domain with Pix, so there is no card to charge;
  • your card was declined or your bank asked for an extra confirmation.

You get an email with a payment link too.

  1. Open the domain’s Settings.
  2. Choose Renew now.
  3. Pay by card (or Pix, if your account pays in Brazilian reais).

Once paid, Settings reads Renewal paid. We are renewing it with the registry, and the new expiry date appears shortly after.

#Confirm the owner’s email

Shortly after a purchase, the registry emails the owner’s address to confirm their details. Until that is done, Settings shows a warning with a deadline. Open the registry’s email and click its link. A domain whose owner is not confirmed in time is suspended until it is.

#Transfer to another provider

You can move the domain to any other registrar. Tayon unlocks it and gives you the transfer code (also called an auth code) the new provider asks for.

  1. Open the domain’s Settings.
  2. Choose Get transfer code, then Unlock and show the code.
  3. Copy the code shown after Transfer code: and give it to your new provider.

If you change your mind, choose Lock it again.

When the transfer completes, the domain shows Transferred out and automatic renewal stops. Its DNS stays where it is until you change the nameservers at the new provider, so your site and email keep working through the move.

#If your account is paused

A domain is your property, not a feature of your plan. If your account is past due or cancelled, Domains stays open to you, and the payment banner and the sign-in page link to it. You can still:

  • manage DNS records, use Quick setup and Undo;
  • Renew now;
  • get the transfer code.

Buying, connecting and the assistant come back when the account is active again.
